Tonsil Stones - Yuck!

Yuck! Do you have what is called tonsil stones?

Tonsil stones are also called tonsillolith and can be described as small calcified accretions which can accumulate in what is called "tonsil crypts." These "stone" are are best described as irregular in shape, whitish and can grow be a quarter inch in size. There was one case of a woman in Spain who had surgery to remove a tonsil stone about the size of a lima bean. When the stones are this large, they are called "giant tonsil stones." But hopefully, yours are much smaller.

Where do they come from, you might ask?

Mucus and bacteria accummulate in the back of your tonsils and these stones smell absolutely awful and would remind you of bad breath or "halitosis."

You may not know it, but everyone has tonsil stones if you still have your tonsils intact. However, it is not necessary to take out the tonsils just because of these tonsil stones and tonsillectomies are not so readily common as years ago when you were growing up. The tonsils were made to catch infection before it travels to other parts of the body, and this is the reason tonsil stones originate there. You probably have had tonsil stones and they dislodged on their own.

Hi,

My tonsil stones have become less since after following your guidelines.
I did purchase a water jet to clean them out. The first time I tried this a LOT came out. (kinda gross) Now when I do it I hardly get anything.
I thank you so much for your advise and will keep trying to stick to your dietary guidelines. :-) Tonsil stones have been one of the most embarrassing awful things to deal with and this has helped tremendously!"
